PRO9 Awards S.W.A.T. Competing Team during 2nd PRO9 SWAT Challenge



PAGADIAN CITY (Aug.14, 2018) – The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of Zamboanga City Police Office emerged as the champion  in the City Police Station category during the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) SWAT team competition. The first runner-up is Dipolog City Police Office while the team from Pagadian City Police Office came in as second runner-up, the warding ceremony held at Regional mobile Force Battalion 9 Firing range on August 10, 2018.

PRO9 PIO Chief PCINSP Helen Galvez disclosed that the results release by the secretariat of the competition.

Galvez said that PRO9 conducted SWAT team competition of every police units in the region including other guest participants.

On the other hand, in the Public Safety Forces category, the SWAT team of Zamboanga Del Norte Provincial Mobile Forces Company topped the competition while the Regional Mobile Forces Battalion 9 and Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Mobile Forces Company were on the 1st and 2nd runner up position, respectively, Galvez added.

PCISNP Galvez also said that in the PNP/BJMP Category (Guest Participants), the 5th Special Action Battalion of the PNP-SAF dominated the competition. They also bag the Best in Pistol Match and adjudged as Overall Champion of the 4-days competition. The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 9 and Aviation Security Group 9 came in as 1st and 2nd runner up, respectively.

The Zamboanga City Police Office SWAT Team who was led by Police Inspector Ahmed Czar A. Astapan, also awarded as Best in Rifle match and earned to represent the Police Regional Office 9 in the 2nd National SWAT Challenge will be held this September of this year, Galvez said.

PRO9 Regional Director PCSUPT Billy B Beltran who leads the opening of the 1st stage of competition in Dipolog City and culmination of 4th stage in Zamboanga City. He said that the competition is in line with the PNP's Master Training Action Plan for Calendar Year (CY) 2018, which aims to enhance the "effectiveness and efficiency" as well as the tactical proficiency of every SWAT units in PRO9, Galvez also added.

Galvez explained that the 2nd PRO9 SWAT Competition which was held at the four different venue in Dipolog City, Pagadian City, Ipil and Zamboanga City, respectively from August 6-10, 2018, the competition was anchored with the four events, namely:

Event 1 (Bus Assault), Event 2 (Especially for You-Transition), Event 3 (The sniper initiated assault and door breaking) and Event 4 (Pistol Pintakasi with obstacle course). (By JONG CADION with PR)
