Two Dawlah Islamiya/Maute Members; Surrenders in Lanaodel Sur



PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Oct. 18, 2018) – Two Dawlah Islamiya/Maute members surrendered to Joint Task Force Ranao in Lumbaca-Unayan, Lanao del Sur 3:00pm Tuesday (October 16, 2018), military official said.

Capt. Clint Antipala, Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO) OIC Chief disclosed that the two Mautes yielded to Lt. Col. Ian Noel Ignes, the Commanding Officer of 55th Infantry Battalion, under the Joint Task Force Ranao.

Capt. Antipala said that the surrenderees was brougth along one caliber 50 and one Garand rifle. Custodial debriefing of the two is still on-going as of this posting.

“The continuous surrender of Mautes entails weakening of their organizational leadership and capabilities, and we encourage others to lay down their arms and live peacefully,” Army’s Premier Division Chief Maj.Gen. Roseller G. Murillo said.

Antipala added that this month alone, a total of ten Maute members surrendered to JTF Ranao. On October 9, seven surrendered to the battalion and on the following day, a Maute sniper surrendered to 49th Infantry Battalion.

Antipala identified the two surenderees as Mr. Mubarak Dimasangkay Bassit and Mr. AlinokMuntik.

Accordingly, September last year, they’ve harassed Brgy. Pantar detachment in Lumbatan during Marawi siege as diversionary tactics while the Maute terrorist groups were fighting in Main Battle Area, Antipala also said. (By JONG CADION)
