Teenage NPA Member Surrenders in Oroquieta City


PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Jan. 22, 2019) – An eighteen year-old Communist NPA Terrorist surrendered to 10th Infantry Battalion in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental Monday (January 21, 2019), military official said.

Capt. Clint Antipala, acting Division Public Affairs Office Chief identified the surrenderer as “Alias Jessie (not his true name) was tired and desperate of the regulations and the illegal activities of the group that led him to escape and surrender,” said Lt. Col. John Andrada, the 10th Infantry Battalion Commander,”  

Antipala also said that yesterday, an NPA medic also surrendered to 53rd Infantry Battalion in Guipos, Zamboangadel Sur due to exhaustion and hunger.

Seventy-one Communists NPA Terrorist yielded to 10thIB as of year 2018.

“We will expect and attract more NPAs to surrender with the advent of Enhance Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government that gives benefits not only for themselves but also for their families,” said Col. BagnusGaerlan, 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander who operationally controlled 10thIB.

Custodial debriefing is still on-going as of this posting.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) Commander, commended the efforts of the troops for the successful surrender ofthe NPA
 teenager.
       
“The youth is the hope of our future. The local populace, stakeholders and concerned agencies should be wary of the NPA’s propaganda and recruitment of our youth.” Maj. General Murillo added. (By JONG CADION with DPAO PR and photos)
