Joint Law Enforcement Operation Confiscate Imported Tobacco Products


  


PAGADIAN CITY (Feb. 11, 2019) - Joint Law Enforcement Operation on Illegal Drugs and Anti - Smuggling Activity intercepted the smuggled imported Tobacco products in Zamboanga City International Port on Feb 9, 2019, Philippine Navy Official said.

Naval Forces Western Mindanao Coander Rear Admiral Rene V. disclosed that the troops were composed of the elements from Field Station Zamboanga; Naval Intelligence and Security Group- Western Mindanao (NISG-WM); Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 9 (PDEA R9), Intelligence Service AFP, Port Police; Marine Battalion Landing Team-11; Wing2 W2 PAF and 304th AISS in coordination with the personnel from Coast Guard Station Zamboanga and Bureau of Customs.

The Joint Law Enforcement Operation was resulted to the successful confiscation of 12,640 rims of imported different brand of cigarettes with an estimated market price of Eleven Million Pesos (Php11,000,000.00).

The watercraft carrying the said cigarettes is identified as MV KRISTEL JANE 3, a passenger vessel that came from Jolo, Sulu.

The confiscated items will be escorted to the Bureau of Customs office for safe keeping prior proper disposition.


The successful foiling of the illegal transport of smuggled imported cigarettes is a result of an intensified and focused maritime patrol and operation of the Philippine Navy in collaboration with other Law Enforcement Agency.

With this, the Philippine Navy through the Naval Forces Western Mindanao will remain vigilant in the conduct of its mandated task to deter any unlawful activities in its area of operation. (By JONG CADION with NVWM PAO PR and photos)
