More firearms surrendered in Lanao del Sur

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (March 26, 2019) – Another five (5) loose firearms and magazines were turned over to Army’s 49th Infantry Battalion by the local government unit of the municipality of Tamparan in the neighboring province of Lanao del Sur Tuesday morning, military official disclosed.

Capt. Clint Antipala, Tabak Division Public Affairs Chief said the the firearms consist of one M14 rifle, one M16A1 rifle, and three Cal .45 pistols.



“The support of the local government units in our area of operation to our campaign against loose firearms manifest their desire for a lasting peace and prosperity in the province of Lanao del Sur,” 103rd Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Romeo Brawner said.

On Monday, eleven firearms were handed over by the local government unit of Taraka municipality in its town hall to Lt. Col. Edgar Allan Villanueva, 49th Infantry Battalion Commander.

“We encourage not only the local government units, but also other stakeholders especially the local populace of Lanao del Sur, to trust and support our campaign against loose firearms for us to be able to attain a peaceful and secured province towards its faster development,” Brawner also said.

Meanwhile, the Army’s premier Infantry (Tabak) Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) commander, Brigadier General Roberto Ancan commended the efforts of the troops and the local government unit of Tamparan for the convergence of efforts which led to the successful hand over of the loose firearms.

“Your Army’s Premier Infantry (TABAK) Division, in collaboration with the LGUs and other stakeholders, remains steadfast in its commitment to attain just and lasting peace in our area of operation thru our campaign against loose firearms,” Ancan added.
