Shootintg incidents data registered in Zamboanga Peninsula dropped by 45.71% compare to last year



PAGADIAN CITY (March 23, 2019) - The Police Regional Office 9 announced that the number of shooting incidents in the region went down by at least 45.71 percent compare to last year covering the period from January to February, police official disclosed.

PRO9 PIO Chief PCINSP Helen L. Galviz said that citing the data from the Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division, a total of 40 shooting incidents registered in the region from January to February of 2019.

Galvez added that the figure was 45.71 percent lower compared to 72 shooting incidents posted during the same period in 2018.

Galvez explained that the decreased in the shooting incidents posted in 2019 attributed to the intensified conduct of strong police checkpoints and police visibility at the shooting hotspot area in the region. The stepped up operations against gun for hire group across the region, also led to the decline of shooting incident registered. Noted that out of 40 shooting incidents from January-February 2019, Sixteen (16) could be attributed to gun for hire, she said.

The intensified law enforcement operations and the drug war have direct bearing on the decrease in the shooting incidents registered region wide.

As this developed, PCSUPT Emmanuel Luis D Licup, PRO9 Regional Director lauded the police units of PRO9 for their remarkable effort that resulted to the decrease of shooting incident registered in 2019. (By JONG CADION with PRO9 PIO PR)
