6,004 PRO9 Cops Tasked to Secure Polls



CAMP COL. ABENDAN, Zamboanga City - The Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) is set to deploy around 6, 004 policemen to the different cities/municipalities in the region days before the May 13, 2019 midterm election to ensure a peaceful and fair election in the region.

Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Luis D Licup, PRO9 Director, said 6, 004 policemen together with the augmentation forces from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are task to secure the 2,264,157 registered voters, 1,882 voting centers and 3,374 voting precincts all over the region.

These police personnel which comprises 4, 9736 from the provinces/cities and 1, 031 from the Police Regional Office 9 Headquarters is set arrived to the different polling centers in the region 10 days before the May 13 election intended for the security provisions for the storage, delivery and retrieval of voting counting machine (VCMs) and accessories, ballots and other election paraphernalia.

Aside from securing the polling centers and voting counting machine (VCMs), some police personnel are also tasked to secure all COMELEC hubs/offices, conduct focused police operations such as conduct of aggressive campaigns against motorcycle-riding criminals, wanted persons, and gun-for-hire personalities to preempt election-related violence; intensification of checkpoint/chokepoint operations in all crime areas and intensification of police visibility patrols and other crime prevention measures.

Meanwhile, PBGEN Emmanuel Luis D Licup, PRO9 Director assures the public that PRO9 is fully committed to protect and safeguard the electoral activity.

He urged the public to be vigilant and report violations of election laws committed by local candidates and its supporters during the campaign period and on Election Day. (By JONG CADION with PRO9 PIO PR and photos)
