Brgy. Chairman and another suspect of murder was killed during the Law Enforcement operation in Dimataling town, Zamboanga del Sur

PAGADIAN CITY (April 16, 2019 – The Barangay Chairman of Barangay Baluno together with the suspect of killing the provincial jail guard was got killed during the implementation of Search Warrant  (Law Enforcement Operation at Barangay Baluno, Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur on April 15, 2019 at about 4:00am.
PRO9 PIO Chief Police Captain Helen L. Galvez disclosed that the operations were jointly conducted by PNP teams of the Regional Intelligence Division 9 (RID9) – Task Force Tugis, Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Intelligence Branch (ZSPIB), 902nd Maneuver Company - Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9 (902MC, RMFB9), Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company (ZSPMFC), Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 9 (RDEU9) and Dimataling Municipal Police Station, implemented Five (5) Search Warrants Numbers 19-01, 19-02, 19-03, 19-04, and 19-05 issued by Presiding Judge, Municipal Circuit Trial Court, 9th Judicial Regional, Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or the illegal possession of firearms and Republic Act No. 9516 or the illegal possession of explosives

The PNP Team arrived at the residence of Napoleon Paderanga Casocot, the incumbent Brgy. Chairman of Baluno, Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur whose residence is located at Purok 2 of above-mentioned place for the implementation of Search Warrant No. 19-04 (for illegal possession of Two M16 Rifles, One AK47 Rifle, Caliber .45 Pistol and several ammunitions).

However, upon arrival of the operating team for the implementation of the said search warrant, the subject person along with Jeffrey Kilat Tulba, 27 years old, a resident of Purok 2, Brgy Picanan, Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur along with other armed men open fired towards the PNP Team.

Consequently, the latter returned fire purposely to subdue the suspects; however, it resulted to the death of the above-named persons.

Recovered from the possession and control of Napoleon P. Casocot was:
one (1) unit caliber .45 Colt MK IV Series 80 Pistol with Serial No. 45566,
one (1) piece magazine and
four (4) live ammunitions, while on the part of Jeffrey K. Tulba, the PNP operating team were able to recover from his possession and control
one (1) unit hand grenade fragmentation, MK2.

Further, the team also recovered one (1) unit caliber 5.56mm M16 A-1 Rifle (Colt AR-15) with attached M203 trigger assembly bearing Serial No. 49 7753, two (2) pieces magazine and thirty-four (34) live ammunitions at the vicinity of the armed confrontation.

Furthermore, it was also learned that Jeffrey K. Tulba is one of the suspects in the killing of Manny Deloy Barrientos, Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Jail Guard who was gunned down on April 5, 2019, at San Jose District, Pagadian City.

On the other hand, a separate PNP Team also implemented Search Warrant No. 19-02 (for illegal possession of One M16 rifle, One Hand Grenade, One Caliber .45 Pistol and several ammunitions) against Elmer Hapat Tambus of legal age, married whose dwelling is located at Purok 3, Brgy. Baluno, Dimataling.

The subject sensed the arrival of the PNP Team which resulted to the firefight engagement with the operating personnel in running gun battle until he was cornered and neutralized by the PNP blocking force.

Recovered from the possession and control of the subject were the following:
one (1) unit of Caliber .45 Pistol (MK IV Series 80) with Serial No. 78899, with one (1) magazine and
four (4) live ammunitions; and
one (1) unit homemade Shotgun with five (5) live shells.

After the armed confrontation, the PNP team implemented the said search warrant at the house of the subject and recovered one (1) unit caliber .45 pistol (M1911A1) with Serial No. 357165, one (1) magazine and five (5) live ammunitions.

While Search Warrants Nos. 19-03, 19-01 and 19-05 against Romil Glang Mangharal, Rene Glang Mangharal Ii and Renolf Nabacanacruz Lim yielded negative result.

The firearms seized from the possession and control of the subjects of the Search Warrants were turned-over to the Provincial Crime Laboratory Office, Camp Abelon, Pagadian City as matter of investigative protocol, chain of custody of evidence and proper conduct of forensic ballistics examination.

The subjects of the Search Warrant who fought the police operating team and died during the operation were turned-over to the respective family for burial rites preparation.

The served Search Warrants will be returned by the operating team applicant to the issuing court together with the photographs, and pieces of documentary evidence to prove the service thereof. (By JONG CADION with PRO9 PIO PR and Photos)
