WestMinCom advocates gender sensitivity

PAGADIAN CITY (July 30, 2019) - Fifty personnel of Western Mindanao Command attended the gender sensitivity training held at its headquarters in Zamboanga City Tuesday, July 30.

        Marilou Pepito, of the Department of Social Welfare and Development- Region IX, tackled salient provisions of legislations and concepts on gender and development that raise awareness on current issues and identify gender needs in the workplace.

        The gender sensitivity training also included interactive discussions on gender fair language.

        Pepito said, “Gender sensitivity is crucial in increasing employees’ productivity and growth; thus, it is imperative for every workplace to encourage gender equality and work against discrimination.”

        Personnel of 4th Civil Relations Group, Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Camp Navarro General Hospital, 16th Finance Service Unit, and 5th Communications, Electronics, Information System Service Group joined the seminar.


        “This training gives impetus to the armed forces’ initiatives to promote gender sensitivity and to equalize gender roles in the military setting,” said Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Western Mindanao Command. (By JONG CADION with WesMinCom PIO press release and photos)
