Disgruntled communist terrorist yielded to troops in Sarangani

PAGADIAN CITY (Feb. 11, 2021) - A member of the communist terrorist group submitted himself to the troops of the 38th Infantry Battalion on Tuesday afternoon, February 9, 2021.

Western Mindanao Command Chief Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr. said a certain “Ryan”, 32 years old and a resident of Sitio Malayo, Barangay Maligang, Kiamba, Sarangani Province yielded to the combined elements of the 38IB and the police’s Regional Mobile Force Battalion in the same barangay at around 3 in the afternoon, same day.

“Based on the initial debriefing, a.k.a. Ryan claimed to be a member of Platoon Cherry Mobile, Guerilla Front Daguma, Far South Mindanao Region under the command of Filimon Villegas, a.k.a. Yoyo,” said Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr.

A.k.a. Ryan revealed that he was on lie-low status prior to his surrender. He decided to surrender because of the hardships he experienced while he continued to hide, evading the government forces. He also came to a realization of the false promises of their communist leaders. Further, he desires to have a peaceful and normal life and hopes to avail the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.

“The surrendered personality brought along one Carbine with two magazines and four rounds of ammunition, one Cal. 45 Pistol with one magazine and seven rounds of ammunition, and one Hand Grenade,” said Lt. Col. Edgardo Vilchez, Commanding Officer of the 38IB.

Col. Eduardo Gubat, Commander of the 603rd Infantry Brigade said, “We will continue to welcome those who wish to embrace peace”.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, Commander of the Joint Task Force Central said, “I would like to congratulate our troops and our partners for continuously convincing our misled brothers and sisters to return to the folds of the law”.

The surrendered personality will be enrolled in the reintegration program of the government after processing his documents.

“We expect more surrenders to come as we continue our peaceful mechanisms while pressing on our campaign to eliminate the different terror groups in our area of operation,” said Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr.

For 2020, a total of 255 communist terrorists yielded to the government forces in western and central Mindanao. (By JONG CADION with reports and photos from WestMinCom=PIO)
