Gov’t forces neutralize top 5 most wanted criminal in Lanao

PAGADIAN CITY (Feb. 11, 2021) - In a combined operation, the military and police neutralized the 5th most wanted person in Balabagan, Lanao del Sur on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

“Jayson Sampiano Deniega, a.k.a. Nonoy, was slain after resisting arrest by the government forces at Sitio Madjar, Barangay Molimoc, Balabagan at around 10:10 a.m. Wednesday,” WestMinCom Commander Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr. stated.

“Deniega was involved in multiple murders, drug trafficking, and extortion,” the commander added.

Lt. Col. Tino Maslan, the Commanding Officer of Marine Battalion Landing Team 5 said Deniega with two unidentified cohorts evaded arrest and initiated a gunfight when the marine troops and Balabagan police were serving the arrest warrant against him, prompting the government forces to return fire.

“Deniega incurred gunshot wounds while his cohorts scampered to different directions,” said Lt. Col. Maslan.

Some of the operating troops rushed Deniega to Dr. Serapio Montañer Hospital in Malabang, Lanao del Sur but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Meanwhile, other troops pursued the two fleeing lawless personalities, but they managed to elude arrest.

While clearing the encounter site, operating troops recovered one Cal.38 loaded with six rounds of ammunition, one Fragmentary Grenade, and two sachets of Methamphetamine Hydrochloride (shabu) weighing more or less 1.6 grams and with an estimated market value of PhP10, 880.00.

“I directed the battalion to reinforce the engaged troops and continuously pursue the fleeing lawless personalities,” said Brig. Gen. Jonas Lumawag, Commander of the 1st Marine Brigade.

The recovered firearms and other items were properly turned over to Balabagan MPS for proper disposition.  

Joint Task Force Central Commander Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy commended the operating troops for the successful operation that led to the neutralization 88888of the 5th most wanted person in the municipality of Balabagan.

“This manifests that your soldiers and policemen are working doubly in order to find those who have criminal liabilities,” said Maj. Gen. Uy.

Likewise, Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. stated, “With the combined efforts of the security agencies, local government units, other stakeholders, and the peace-loving people, we will soon attain the peace that we all long for”. (By JONG CADION with reports and photos by WestMinCom-PIO)
