Two Communist Terrorist Group members surrender in Zamboanga Sibugay province

 PAGADIAN CITY (March 9, 2021) - Two members of the communist terrorist group have given up their support for the communist movement on Monday afternoon, March 8, 2021.

“After their respective units have been dismantled, the two decided to come out and submit themselves to Lt. Col. Filven Noche, Commanding Officer of the 44th Infantry Battalion at the unit headquarters in Barangay Lower Baluran, Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay Province,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Commander of the Western Mindanao Command.

Nelboy Racho, a.k.a. RJ, S4 of Team Baking, Squad 1 of the defunct Guerilla Front Feliciano-A of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee and a resident of Barangay Dalapan, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur; and Jemar Yator, a.k.a. Jelo, S4 of Team Baking, Squad 1 of the defunct Kalaw of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee and a resident of Purok 7, Barangay Balagon, Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay Province surrendered through the efforts of the Municipal Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) of Godod headed by Godod Municipal Mayor Abel Matildo.

Lt. Col. Noche said the implementation of Executive Order No. 70 convinced the two to surrender.

“We will facilitate and collaborate with our stakeholders for their enrollment to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government,” said Lt. Col. Noche.

Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas, Commander of the 102nd Infantry Brigade commended the troops of the 44IB for facilitating the successful surrender of the two former terrorists.

The two are currently undergoing custodial debriefing at the 44IB headquarters.

“We continue to encourage the remaining CTG members to return to the folds of the law and take advantage of the reintegration program of the government,” said Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio, Commander of the Joint Task Force ZamPeLan.

The two are the 8th and 9th members of the communist terrorist group that surrendered to the government forces during the first quarter of 2021.
