WestMinCom Commander meets Lanao del Sur LCE, visits Marawi City

 PAGADIAN CITY (May 1 2021) - Western Mindanao Command Chief Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr. met with Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong, Jr., and visited Marawi City on April 28, 2021.

Together with Joint Task Force ZamPeLan Commander Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio and 103rd Infantry Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Jose Maria Cuerpo II, Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. paid a courtesy call on Governor Adiong, Jr. at the Provincial Capitol in Marawi City on Wednesday morning.

During their meeting, Gov. Adiong, Jr. expressed his gratitude to Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. for taking the time to visit Marawi City.

“The local government officials and the people of Marawi give our 100 percent trust and support to the military because we believe that if we will work harmoniously we will be able to defeat our enemies,” said Gov. Adiong, Jr.

Likewise, Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. commended the excellent leadership of the local chief executive and the local government officials of Lanao del Sur.

“Good governance is the key to the attainment of peace and progress in the communities,” said Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr.

The military generals visited and check on the status of the rehabilitation of the battle-stricken areas. Following their arrival, the military officials were given a briefing update on the rehabilitation of the city.

“I am happy that Marawi City is returning to what it used to be before the Marawi siege,” said Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr.

“Rest assured that the AFP will continue to support the rehabilitation while sustaining the peace in this beautiful city of Marawi,” Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. added.

Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. also visited the troops of the 103rd Infantry Brigade where he was briefed with the security updates of the city.

“We are honored to be led by a very supportive and vigorous commander,” said Brig. Gen. Cuerpo II.

“His exceptional leadership inspires us to go the extra mile in accomplishing our mission of sustaining the peace and aiding in the rehabilitation of Marawi,” Brig. Gen. Cuerpo II added.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Ponio said the troops of the Joint Task Force ZamPeLan will remain steadfast in fighting the challenges posed by terrorism and radicalization in the Zamboanga Peninsula and the Lanao provinces.

“Peace is best achieved through the joint effort of all the sectors of society hence we must all unite to enjoy the peace and prosperity that we all deserve,” said Maj. Gen. Ponio. (By JONG CADION with report and photos from WestMinCom-PIO)
