Another high-powered loose firearm handed over to military in Tawi-Tawi

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (June 17, 2021) - With the intensified peace campaign of the military, other government agencies, and the local government units, another civilian handed over his high-powered loose firearm to the marine troops in Tawi-Tawi on June 15, 2021.

“The owner of the loose firearm is a 32-year-old male who is a resident of Pondohan Kasangyangan, Barangay Poblacion, Sitangkai. His identity is withheld for security purposes,” said Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Commander, Western Mindanao Command.

Surrendered firearm is an M16 A-1 rifle with four long magazines and 69 rounds of live ammunition.

According to Lt. Col. Aladdin Caluza, Commander of Marine Battalion Landing Team – 12, said firearm was handed over to the troops of the 312th Marine Company in Barangay Poblacion, Sitangkai.

Said activity was witnessed by Police Corporal Lipae Yusop of the Municipal Police Station and Panglima Alari Barangay Captain Julwahid Nawang.

“I would like to express my appreciation to the local government officials and the peace-loving people of Tawi-Tawi for taking the lead in advancing the peace campaign in this beautiful province,” said Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas, Commander, Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi.

“Let us continue to collaborate as we journey towards the attainment of inclusive peace and sustainable development,” he added.

JTF Tawi-Tawi received a total of 42 loose firearms since January 2021.
