P8-millionWorth of Alleged Smuggled Cigarettes Seized in Divisoria, Zambo. City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (July 27, 2021) – A total of 439 boxes of assorted smuggled cigarettes with estimated market value of Php8-million worth were intercepted by the PNP personnel of Zamboanga City Police Station 5 together with the Tasked Force Zamboanga (TFZ) at 2:15 AM of July 27, 2021 at the fixed checkpoint located at Barangay Divisoria, Zamboanga City.

The smuggled cigarettes together with empty blue plastic drums were loaded in a eight wheeler truck FUSO with plate number CAY 8647driven by Jereel Hofelina y Morales, 41years old, male, separated and a resident of Barangay Talisayan, Zamboanga City together with his truckman Alnasher Arraji y Sakkam, 36 years old, male, married and a resident of Barangay San Roque, Zamboanga City. 

 When they were asked by PNP personnel  for pertinent documents but failed to show any to support their claims.

Upon inventory, said alleged smuggled cigarettes and empty drums were as follows: 30 Empty Blue Plastic Drums, 190 Boxes New Berlin Cigarettes, 225 Boxes Fort Cigarettes, 24 Boxes Cannon cigarettes with a total of 439 boxes and with estimated market value amounting to more or less P8,000,000.00.

The said said Eight Wheeler Truck FUSO with the suspects and confiscated items are presently under the custody of Zamboanga City Police Station 5 for proper disposition.(With reports and photos from PRO9-PIO)
