Wounded soldiers receive awards, cash assistance

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (July 13, 2021) - Survivors of the ill-fated C-130 aircraft who are currently under medication at the private and public hospitals in Zamboanga City were conferred with awards and were given cash assistance on July 12, 2021.

The Presidential Management Staff-Region IX led by Mr. Asnawi Maamor together with Western Mindanao Command Deputy Commander for Administration Brig. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete checked on the status of and conferred the award of Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Kampilan on the soldiers who are currently confined at Zamboanga City Medical Center, Zamboanga Doctor’s Hospital, West Metro Medical Center, and Ciudad Medical Zamboanga.

A total of 26 personnel received awards and were given cash assistance amounting to PhP115, 000.00. Said initial financial assistance came from the Office of the President and Senator Bong Go.

They also received gift checks amounting to PhP5, 000.00, cellular phone, watch, and gun certificate.

It can be recalled that the Hercules C-130 aircraft with tail number 2125 of the Philippine Air Force crash-landed in Barangay Bangkal, Patikul, Sulu on July 4, 2021, which resulted in 52 fatalities (49 soldiers and three civilians). 51 survived the tragic incident (47 soldiers, four civilians).
