Intermittent firefight between the Gov’t forces and NPA still ongoing

PAGADIAN CITY – Another encounter between the government troops and members News People’s Army belong to the WMRPC somewhere at the vicinity of Brgy. Palian, Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay Province.


Captain Alberto C. Caber, spokes person of Division Public Affairs Office said, on or about 4:30 PM this afternoon, August 17, 2012 - Two sections from the 14th Scout Ranger Battalion encountered more or less 40 heavily armed NPA.

As of the press time the intermittent firefight and running gun battle still ongoing in the area. The encounter was a result of the information from the civilian in the area on the presence of runaway armed men.

The Government troops scouring at the vicinity of the encounter were able to recovered the following items; 1 netbook, 1 magazine with 163 rounds ammunition for AK47, 16 rounds of 7.62 mm linked 13 rounds of Garand ammunition, Medical items, Subversive documents, and other personal belongings.

“No casualty on government side while we believed that undetermined casualty occurs on the enemy side base on the blood stain recovered from their escape route. The government troops are still on combat operations in the area.” Capt. Caber added.

PNP and LGU of Malangas minicipality, expressed thanks to the government troops for the actions of the Tabak troopers.

It was recalled, one soldier of the 53rd Infantry Battalion of the 102nd Brigade Philippine Army was killed in encounter the other day August 15, 2012 at about 3:35 in the afternoon between the communist rebels.

The encounter lasted for 30 minutes after the government troops led by Captain Rafel L. Balincamaya, Jr. while on its reconnaissance operation was able to penetrate the lair of the rebels at the vicinity of Brgy. Compostela, Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay. (Jong Cadion)
