NPA Squad Leader of WMRPC surrenders to live normal life

Zamboanga del Sur – The New People’s Army (NPA) Squad Leader Roger Apog also known as Rey Bajik of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC) operating in the Hinterland of Zamboanga del Sur returned to the fold of the law in order to live normal life together with his family.


He surrendered together with his Garand rifle and some ammunition to the Government troops of 53rd Infantry Battalion of the Army’s Premier (Tabak) Division this early morning Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Barangay Kahayagan, Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur while the troops were performing peace and development activities at the said barangay.

“Misurender ko kay wala na ko nakasabot sa among kahimtang nga nagpaabot sa wala ug walay tumong ang padulngan, nangandoy lang ko ug kalinaw nga pamuyo kauban ang akoang pamilya,” I surrender because I don’t understand anymore our situation living without direction. I want to live peacefully with my family,” Ka Rey said.  

“I expect more of them to return to the fold of the law soon following our implementation of our internal security operation tag as OPLAN BAYANIHAN in their area of responsibility,” said Lt. Col. Victor C. Tangawohn, Battalion commander of 53rd IB.

“Our troops are now in Sitios and barangays doing Bayanihan works and they are well appreciated by the community,” Tanggawohn added.

Tabak Division Chief Maj. General Ricardo Rainier Cruz III welcomed the surrender of NPA Commander Rey Bajik and extended also his commendations and to the troops of 53rd IB for the job well done. 

“Congratulations Ka Rey, your decision to return to the fold of the law is a joy to your family. Your army is only facilitating your safety surrender. Please do not hesitate to help others also so they may follow your footsteps and let’s be involved in Bayanihan works to achieve progress in our countryside,” Maj. Gen. Cruz message during the simple ceremony here recently.
