Army, CENRO Confiscated Hot Logs


KUTA SANG-AN, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur– The joint team from the Community Environment Natural Resources Office (CENRO), local officials of Brgy. Tambacan, all of Iligan City, and the troops from the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion also based in Iligan City together with the PNP Operatives successfully raided the establishment where forest products were illegally possess and stocks. 

At least four thousand six hundred (4,600) board feet of assorted illegally cut logs, one electric motor and two flywheel blades were confiscated from the Relax N Lodging House owned by one Rolando Sugabo by a joint team from the Community Environment Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Iligan City, local officials of Brgy. Tambacan of same city and the troops from the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion last Wednesday morning in Purok 7 of the said barangay.

Iligan City CENRO Chief Mr. Mamacaya Lucman said that he has to seek the assistance of the soldiers from the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion as the local PNP was currently indisposed to provide them security during the confiscation.

4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer Maj. Leodegario M. Valencia said that his unit has actively supported the environmental protection campaigns of the local DENR since then and is also supporting the local PNP in its law enforcement operations in the area. “We operate jointly and we see better results with this set-up”. Maj. Valencia added.

2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Ricardo B. Jalad said that the active participation of the troops under his Command is AFP mandate. “We performed our job with local officials, the people and the concerned stakeholders”. Col, Jalad added.

Meanwhile, 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division, Philippine Army Commander Major General Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III commended the troops involved in the operation for the job well-done. “The Iliganon’s must not only take lessons from the recent typhoon Sendong experience but also support the environmental protection campaign of the government in which our future generation will depend on ”. MGen. Cruz said.
