IED Explosion hurts 14-year old Boy


IMELDA, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY – An improvised bomb exploded at Imelda Commercial Complex in front of M&M Alrahfi garment shop owned by Merpha Barabadan  Bano of Poblacion Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay Province Wednesday evening wounding one 14 year old Alraffy Barabadan  Bano who was immediately rushed to the nearest Hospital.

102nd Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Gerardo F. Barrientos immediately directed the elements from the 3rd Explosive Ordnance Detachment and AFP K-9 unit to support the PNP SOCO in the initial post blast investigation and other necessary assistance at the site.

44th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Yegor Rey P. Barroquillo Jr., said that in coordination with the local PNP he immediately deployed appropriate number of troops to the blast site to provide necessary assistance.

The local PNP is now on their thorough investigation to identify the responsible suspects. Motive has yet to be determined as of press time. Initial investigation disclosed, the bomb used is an Improvised Explosive Device (IED)

Meanwhile, Tabak Chief Maj. General Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III, directed Col. Barrientos to assist the local PNP in its law enforcement. “Our people must remain vigilant and must report at once all suspicious moves or actions of any persons in our locality to the authorities. We can always address all security concerns if everybody will cooperate”. MGen. Cruz appealed.
