Thank You Message to Mercury Drug

Jong -

What an incredible way to start 2013! Thanks to you and thousands of others who signed my petition, the child survivors of Typhoon Pablo are now getting the much needed medical attention that had become scarce after the devastation.

Like you, I was distressed by TV reports of children dying with no access to basic medical supplies and facilities after the typhoon. This compelled me to start a petition on Change.org asking Mercury Drug to be a hero, as they were for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy.

Public awareness was raised because of your signature -- every time a person signed and left a comment, Mercury Drug was updated by Change, org. I also tweeted your comments for everyone else to see. Mercury Drug responded quickly and contacted me late December 2012. I decided to wait for their official letter before I posted the victory note.

Last Friday, Mercury Drug, in partnership with the local government, conducted a special "Operation Bigay Lunas" in Cateel, Davao Oriental. They gave free medical consultations and health screenings and distributed free antibiotics and medicines for diarrhea, colds and fever. Click here to watch the video.

They also donated 20 sacks of rice to each of the eight typhoon-stricken provinces, plus, 1,000 bags of relief goods and vitamins in Compostela Valley.

Now, it's our turn to give back. Join me in thanking Mercury Drug for taking their part in alleviating the conditions of typhoon survivors and giving them hope. May I encourage you to post a Thank You Message on Mercury Drug's Facebook page or tweet your thanks tagging @Mercury_Drug.

This is a huge win that would not have been possible if not for you who took action and did not just sit and watch idly by while our kababayans, especially the children, are struggling to survive after Typhoon Pablo. It is proof that when ordinary people like us are united, we're powerful to effect change and more importantly, save lives.

Sincerely,

Aurora Pijuan
