ZSP’s Public Enemy No. 1 Nabbed

IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY – The apprehension of one of the most wanted lawless element leaders of Zamboanga Sibugay Province (ZSP) identified as Munib Aukasa and a certain Abraham Janjalani armed with two caliber .45 pistol and hand grenade were successful done during the joint law enforcement operations conducted between the elements from the 44th Infantry Battalion, 6th Special Forces Battalion, and the operatives of Zamboanga Sibugay PNP Provincial Office at Sitio Tikol, Brgy Langon in Tungawan municipality on Tuesday morning February 5, 2013.

44th Infantry Battalion Commander LTC Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr in his report said that Aukasa has numerous warrant of arrests for various crimes  committed including murder with criminal case number 3844) and highway robbery under criminal case number 4441 issued by Judge Maraon of Branch 24, ZSP RTC.

The said lawless element leader is identified as the responsible for the killing of two soldiers on December 15, 2008 and burning of a Rural Transit bus on April 05, 2011 resulted to the killing of an army officer and his wife and killing and wounding CAFGU Active Auxiliary personnel in Tungawan area, 44th Infantry Battalion Commander added.

Records at Tungawan PNP shows from the period January 2010 to June 2012 that Aukasa is also a prime suspect of different incidents; five murders, three frustrated murders, five highway robberies, nine shooting incidents, three arsons and one abduction. The arrested persons were brought to Tungawan PNP station for proper disposition of the case.

“I commend the joint law enforcement elements for their successful arrest of Munib Aukasa and his companion. With their arrest, peace of mind to the residents and traveling public in ZSP will reign and soon justice will be served on Aukasa” MGen Ricardo Rainier Cruz III, the Commander of the 1st Infantry Division said. The Tabak Chief is also grateful of the public participation and is now joining the “Bayanihan” spirit by providing law enforcers timely information that led to the arrest of the wanted persons.
