Firearms and assorted ammunitions recovered in an encounter

PAGADIAN CITY – Two firearms and assorted ammunition s were recovered by the joint military and police operatives after the encounter between the more or less 50 fully armed lawless group Thursday at 4:45 in the afternoon at Sitio KM2, Brgy Crossing Sta Clara, Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay Province.

In a reports submitted by 44th Infantry Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr to the headquarters of the Army’s Premier Tabak Division said that the government troops from the Army Special Forces and Philippine National Police responded the information from the civilians resulted to the 30 minutes firefights.

The lawless group headed by a certain commander Baser Sakilan withdraw towards the different unknown direction leaving at the encounter site on M203 grenade launcher, one M2 Caliber .30 carbine rifle, assorted ammunition's for M16 rifle, M14 rifle and Garand rifle and one rifle grenade.

There was no reported casualty on the military and police personnel while undetermined wounded on the side of the lawless elements as blood stained recovered from their escape route.

Investigation disclosed, said lawless group was about to conduct kidnapping activity in the area. Immediately, the 44IB deployed more troops to conduct hot pursuit operations against the fleeing lawless elements.     

The 1st Infantry Tabak Division Commander Major General Ricardo Rainier Cruz III lauded the prompt action made by the joint elements of soldiers and police and further said, “The support of the populace to law enforcers in the spirit of “Bayanihan” is now overwhelming and I admire their vigilance to fight criminality and lawlessness.”

The timely information provided by the people encourages our law enforcers to double their efforts to attain lasting peace and security in this region, the Tabak Commander disclosed.
