KUTA SANG-AN, LABANGAN, ZAMBOSUR – The 103rd Infantry Brigade credited the success of the recent election in Lanao del Sur with the presence of Close Circuit Television (CCTVs) Cameras in major voting precincts in the province before and during the casting of votes last 13 May 2013.

Before the election date, the Brigade has initiated series of consultative meetings to discuss the use of CCTV cameras. Attendees are political aspirants, tribal elders, and civilian poll watchers in partnership with COMELEC officers and other stakeholders. As proposed and suggested, the presence of the surveillance cameras would prevent election frauds, irregularities and other unnecessary actions that may come from groups or individuals planning to commit such actions.

According to BGen Daniel A Lucero, Commander, 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, the idea was unanimously taken positively by the political candidates. This was manifested by their acts of voluntarily providing the much needed cameras and other requirements to make the project possible. Quoting from the Division Commander himself, he said that the Maranaos have always wanted clean and honest election in their province. Their support to the idea is a clear indication of their aspirations for transparent and honest elections.

BGen Lucero congratulated the Muslim elders and voters in Lanao del Sur for their vigilance and active participation for safe election. He further said that they have made the result of the election something that they can be proud of.
