137 entrusted of firearms to newly private soldiers

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, (Jan. 13 Fronbtline News) -– The Philippine Army’s First “Tabak” Infantry Division held an Entrustment of Firearms ceremony as the command issued service firearms to the newly-enlisted 137 soldiers.

The ceremony was held Saturday at the Tabak gymnasium at Camp Major Cesar Sang-an that houses the headquarters of the First Infantry Division in Barangay Upper Pulacan, Labangan, this province.

First Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Felicito Virgilio Trinidad said the ceremony was participated in by the following: Mayor Maria Fe Pitogo, Josefina town, this province; Salong Sunggod, regional director of the National Commission of Indigenous Peoples (NCIP); Fr. Miguel Cahanap, parish priest of Molave, this province; Pastor Jerry Carbajosa Jr., head of this city’s All the World Outreach Church; Nestor Carbonera, executive director of Xavier Agricultural Extension in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay; Dr. Helen Bulawin, Tabak Elementary School principal; and, Leah Agonoy, Tabak Defense Press Corps president.

Trinidad said they were tasked to entrust the firearms to the newly-enlisted soldiers.

The firearms were handed over to them and they were the ones who turn it over to the soldiers coupled with advises on their responsibility in handling the guns as soldier.

Trinidad said the ceremony is aimed to instill service-oriented attitude to the soldiers.

The ceremony was witnessed by some members of the family of the newly-enlisted soldiers who also provided moral advice to them during the occasion.

The newly-enlisted soldiers, all with the rank of private, composed of the six-month Candidate Soldier Course Class 318-2013 that graduated last Dec. 16.
