Zambo solon thanked President Aquino for release of funds to SUCs

ZAMBOANGA CITY, June 7 (PNA) -- First district Rep. Celso Lobregat has thanked President Benigno S. Aquino III for approving the release of funds to calamity-stricken State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), including those affected by the Zamboanga siege in 2013.

Lobregat said the release of the funds was recently approved by the President.

Two of the recipients SUCs are from this city and these are the Zamboanga State College of Marines Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) and the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC).

Lobregat said the ZSCMST will received P27,151,186.74 and the ZCSPC, P9,692,020.

The money will come from a special fund for the rehabilitation of various public higher education institutions affected by the calamities in 2013.

Lobregat said he already informed Dr. Milavel Nazario and Dr. Nora Ponce, presidents of ZSCMST and ZCSPC, respectively, to follow up with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) the release of funds.

Meanwhile, he said the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) clarified that there would be a second batch of SUCs to receive the same financial assistance and this would include another local school which is the Western Mindanao State University.(PNA)
