PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Sept. 24 (PNA) -– The local police have filed criminal charges on Tuesday before the City Prosecutor’s Office against three people who were behind the shipment of more than P100,000 worth of shabu in this city, an official said Wednesday.

Police director Senior Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre identified the respondents for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 as Jomar Pantenas, Acob Anidal and Norma Lam.

Ecaldre said the suspects were arrested Monday afternoon after his personnel and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEAD) intercepted a shipment of the more than P100,000 worth of shabu.

Eclaldre said the shabu, which was packed in a box of an infant formula, was shipped through a private courier firm from Manila and was consigned to Pantenas.

He said the suspects were arrested after they claimed the package at the outlet of the courier firm along Benigno Aquino Street in this city.

He said the suspects, who were positively identified by an informant, were arrested after the police received information about the shipment of the shabu.

He said the suspects were placed under the custody of the PDEA in this city. (PNA)
