PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 13 (PNA) -– All is set for the holding Wednesday of the Regatta 2015, which is part of the Pasalamat Festival 2015, in this city.

The highlights of the festival is the feast day of Señor Sto. Niño, the patron saint of this city, on January 18.

Initially, the Pasalamat Festival 2015 Steering Committee announced that more than 60 vintas with beautiful sail are expected to participate in the Regatta.

Some of the participants are from the nearby provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Norte.

City Councilor Cesar Dacal Jr., steering committee chairman, said they decided to move the holding of the Regatta to an earlier date for security reasons.

The Regatta was earlier scheduled to be held from January 17-18.

Dacal said they changed the schedule of the Regatta to an earlier date to enable policemen to focus security efforts to a particular activity.

Dacal said January 17 is reserved for the fluvial parade at 6:30 a.m. around Yllana Bay. It will be followed by the procession of Sto. Niño from the wharf to the Cathedral.

January 18 is the culmination of the festival, which is the feast day of Sto. Niño, the patron saint of this city.

Senior Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre, provincial police director, said they augmented the policemen tasked to provide security during the festival here.

The augmentation force came from the police offices of this province’ 26 municipalities. (PNA)
