CITY, Feb. 4 (PNA) -- The city government is optimistic that the operation of
the newly-completed P180-million Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT) will be an
additional income-earning economic enterprise.
City
Administrator Antonio Orendain, Jr. said Wednesday the IBT will operate on a
24/7 basis once it is opened.
However,
Orendain was quick to say that it is expected the IBT will have a “break-even”
income on the first year of operation.
The
terminal, which can accommodate more than 600 passengers and 17 buses at one
time, is located in Barangay Divisoria, 6.40 kilometers east of this city.
The
IBT will cater to buses plying from this city to Pagadian City, Zamboanga del
Sur; Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental; and,
to as far as Cagayan de Oro City in Northern Mindanao.
City
Engineer Luis Vicente Despalo earlier announced that the IBT is “physically 100
percent completed” except for some finishing touches.
The
terminal has different amenities that include breastfeeding room, gift shops,
eateries, offices of the different government line agencies and restrooms.
The
IBT will be the fourth economic enterprises of this city. The other three are
the Waterfront public market, Sta. Cruz Commercial Complex, and the abattoir.
