Alleged Abu Sayyaf mall threat circulating in social media

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (February 17, 2017) - This pertains to the terrorist threat against SM that has been widely circulating in the different social network sites. It stated that the Abu Sayyaf has asked for $15 million in one week or else they will “bomb the mall”. The information supposed came from a mall employee.

In this regard, the PNP reiterates that the alleged mall threat of Abu Sayyaf circulating in the social media is a hoax. The security forces of AFP and PNP are continuously conducting intelligence-gathering measures and security operations to prevent terror acts throughout the country.

Nevertheless, the government remains in complete control of the situation throughout the rest of the country.

The PNP cautions the public not to propagate false on unverified information particularly if it involves serious security and public safety implications.

The PNP asks the public to be prudent in believing and sharing unverified reports that the may cause unnecessary panic and fear;


Likewise, the public is reminded to remain vigilant at all times and help the government in ensuring peace and order in our country and report to the police or through the nationwide Emergency hotline 911 any suspicious persons, activities, and unusual occurrences in public such as boxes and bags left unattended, people checking areas or buildings, people trying to enter secure areas, or people at events wearing too much clothing, or any untoward incidents and crime situations.
