PRO9 launches institutionalization of Performance Governance System (PGS)

ZAMBOANGA CITY (April 20, 2018) - Bearing the banner “Go for Gold”, the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) joined the simultaneous nationwide launching of the Institutionalization Stage of Performance Governance System (PGS), the 4th and final stage of PGS P.A.T.R.O.L PLAN 2030 at the PRO9 Multi-Purpose Hall, Camp Romeo A Abendan, Mercedes, Zamboanga City, Thursday (April 20), official said.

PSSUPT Faro Antonio O Olaguera, Chief, Regional Police Strategy Management Unit 9, said the activity, which is simultaneously held at the PNP Headquarter and other Police Regional Offices showcased some of the best practices, firepower capabilities and operational readiness of PRO9. In addition, series of lectures on good governance with target audience coming from the PNP members and selected members of the community are also conducted during the launching.   


ZCPO-PRO9 PCInsp Helen L Galvez said that the PGS is a process that assesses the overall performance of the Philippine National Police (PNP) units across the country based on their accomplishments through the implementation of strategic initiatives. It comprises of four stages which include initiation, compliance, proficiency and institutionalization with the end-purpose of addressing organizational dysfunctions and improve the quality of the delivery of police services in the country. It also aims to strengthen law enforcement capabilities and to enhance the welfare and benefits of PNP personnel.


Earlier, the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9) is now a Performance Governance System (PGS) proficient after receiving a “Silver Eagle Award” during the conferment of PGS Proficient' Status Ceremony held at the National Headquarters, Camp Crame, Quezon City last March 26, 2018.  The PRO9 garnered a rating of 94.08 percent for satisfactorily completing the mandatory requirement for the third stage of the PGS.
