2 Suspects in Pagadian City Shooting Arrested

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga Del Sur (July 9, 2018) – The personnel of Pagadian City Police Station has arrested two suspects in the shooting incident that transpired at Purok Bakhaw B, Barangay Kawit, Pagadian City at about 6:40 PM of July 7, 2018, Police Official said.

Two victims were identified as Jessie Rey Tero Ontolan, 39 year old, male, married, jobless and Jessrel Calgas Ontolan, 12 years old, student, son of Jessie Rey, both residents of the aforementioned place.

Pagadian City Police Station OIC Chief Supt. Alvin Saguban identified the two arrested suspects as Bernardo Dionio Arroyo, 48 years old, male, married, ex-Barangay Kagawad of Barangay Bibilik, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur and his companion identified as Soffio Retubado Namucatcat, 38 years old, male, married, garbage truck driver and a resident of Purok Bakhaw C, Brgy Kawit, Pagadian City.

Initial investigation disclosed that Bernardo (suspect) and Soffio was having a drinking spree in front of Razul Sari-sari Store located at Purok Bakhaw B, Brgy Kawit when the victim together with his son passed by and was invited by Soffio to drink a glass of beer which the victim accepted the offer, Supt. Saguban said.

COP Saguban added that without warning, the suspect Bernardo then stood up, pulled a gun from his waist and shoot Jessie Rey (victim) on his head and body which resulted to his death and also hit Jessrel (son of the victim) in his right hand. The suspects immediately fled towards the direction of Kawit Barangay Hall riding a white red Honda XRM.

Supt Saguban also said that the responding police operatives conducted a hot pursuit operation which resulted to the successful arrest of the suspects and the confiscation of their cellphone and revealed thru the cellphone inbox read as “Brod ayaw patya, unsay enfo dha?”

Both suspects were told of their rights by reading the Miranda Doctrine. Recovered from the crime scene were two fired cartridges for Cal .45.

Suspects now temporarily detained at Pagadian City PS lock-up cell for proper filing of appropriate charges. Investigator on case is Renji R Narciso with CP No. 0912-8212-873.
