DepEd-ARMM hires 765 new teachers for Maguindanao

Cotabato City (July 3, 2018) – The Department of Education of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DepEd-ARMM) hired 765 new teachers for the department’s two districts in Maguindanao.

Successful teaching applicants, numbering 330, for Maguindanao’s second district signed their appointment and deployment orders on Monday, June 2, during an acceptance and mass oath-taking ceremony held here.

The mass signing was attended by ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman, DepEd Regional Secretary Atty. Rasol Mitmug Jr., Bureau of Public Information Executive Director Amir Mawallil, and other DepEd-ARMM officials. A similar ceremony was held on Tuesday, July 3, for 435 newly hired teachers for the first district of Maguindanao.

The hiring of new teachers is part of DepEd-ARMM’s mission to provide quality education for Bangsamoro children. The teachers were hired after they passed a strict hiring process that includes Assessment and Competency Examination for Teachers in ARMM, an interview and a teaching demonstration.

“May mga kwentong nagsasabi na ang pag-apply daw sa ARMM ay medyo mahirap,” said Norolhaq H. Usop, one of the newly hired teachers. He was among the walk-in applicants during the screening process conducted last May. “I feel so blessed kasi hindi na umabot ng ilang years ang application namin,” he said.

Now that he is officially a teacher in the region, Usop said he is ready for whatever duties his work will require. “I will really give my best para maibigay kung ano man ang kailangan ng ating mga kabataan,” Usop said.

“Gusto nating tiyakin na ang mga na-hire na teachers ay magagaling,” said Gov. Mujiv Hataman. “Andito kayo ngayon dahil dumaan kayo sa proseso, at napili kayo dahil magaling at mahusay kayo,” he told the new teachers.

“Ang kinabukasan, kabutihan, at kaunlaran ng edukasyon sa rehiyon ay nakasalalay sa inyong lahat,” the governor added. “Nakikiusap kami sa inyo na magturo kayo ng maayos at gagawin  rin namin ang mga bagay na nararapat sa inyo.”

Sec. Mitmug previously announced that DepEd-ARMM is currently preparing the deployment orders of 2,458 teachers for the entire region, which ARMM officials hope would be accomplished as soon as possible. (Jong Cadion/Bureau of Public Information)
