AFP supports relief operations in Sulu



PAGADIAN CITY (Aug. 2, 2018) - Six days after the fire incident in Jolo, Sulu, the AFP continues to provide assistance in the relief operations of the different governmental and non-governmental organizations, military official said.

LTC Gerry M. Besana, WesMinCom spokesperson disclosed that On August 31, PMS-9 distributed financial assistance worth P7, 000.00 each to the 1,078 heads of families presently occupying the SantaninaRasul Gym.

At 9:30am yesterday, the distribution of financial assistance to the fire victims continued benefiting another 350 heads of families., LTC Besana said.

Besana added that as of 3pm same day, a total of 1,428 families were provided with the financial assistance.

Meanwhile, at around 10am yesterday, the C130 aircraft of the Philippine Air Force transported relief goods donated by the Zamboanga West Rotary Club, with the following items: 50 organizer boxes with assorted goods; 180 empty blue gallons; and 100 boxes Saudi date.

Aforesaid items were received by Mrs. Marlene Rasud of DSWD-Sulu.

"Our Joint Task Force Sulu never fails to assist in the different disaster response operations organized by the Regional Government of ARMM and the Provincial Government of Sulu," said Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega, Commander of the Western Mindanao Command. "Rest assured that the safety of the people is our primary concern".

“The AFP, through the Philippine Air Force is always ready to assist in the transport of relief goods to Sulu,” he added. (By JONG CADION)
