Fourth Executive Course on Security, Peace and Development attended by CSAFP

PAGADIAN CITY (Aug. 2, 2018) - General Carlito G. Galvez Jr, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines attended the opening ceremony of the Executive Course on Security, Peace and Development together with Department of National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana at Palacio del Sur, Zamboanga City earlier Wednesday, WesMinCom spokesperson LTC Gerry M. Besana disclosed.

LTC Besana said that the AFP Chief of Staff also had the chance to visit the WestMinCom troops and recognize the soldiers and members of the Civilian Active Auxillary who were wounded during the Improvised Explosive Device explosion in Lamitan City Tuesday. Said explosion also resulted in the deaths of one soldier, 4 CAAs, 4 CAA dependents and the driver of the van while eight others were wounded.

During the press conference at the Media Center, Western Mindanao Command, General Galvez commended the troops of the Joint Task Force Basilan led by Colonel Fernando M. Reyeg who have been very vigilant in conducting the checkpoint and for risking their lives to preempt the bomb plot of the lawless elements. He also recognized the Western Mindanao Command led by Lieutenant General Arnel B. Dela Vega for the continuous vigilance in protecting the people. He also reminded everyone to be vigilant.

“With the utmost support of the local government unit, our armed forces will be having a much easier time to perform our duties and responsibilities because that is what we really need in our fight against terrorism,” said WestMinCom Chief Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega.
