2 Incumbent Barangay Chairman in Zambopen were Gunned Down

PAGADIAN CITY (May 5, 2019) - Two Incumbent Barangay Chairman were killed in shooting incident, one of them the current ABC president was gunned down by unidentified assailants in a separate incidents in Brgy La Roche, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte and Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur on May 4, 2019.

  

Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Luis D Licup, PRO9 Director identified the two victims as:

Edgardo Podpod Viñas, 49 years old, married, Brgy Chairman of Dapaon, Sindangan, ABC President of Sindangan, a resident of Brgy Dapaon, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte and

Ibrahim Ungad, of legal age, male, married, incumbent Brgy. Chairman of Brgy. New Labangan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, a resident of Purok Caimito, Tuburan District, Pagadian City.

Edgardo Podpod Viñas was gunned down at ABC Hall, Brgy La Roche, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte at about 11:58 AM of May 4, 2019.

Investigation conducted disclosed that prior to the incident; the victim was presiding session at the ABC hall in Brgy La Roche, Sindangan.

After he adjourned the session, unidentified person surfaced and shot the victim with the use of long firearm. The suspect then fled to J. Teaño St. Goleo, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte on board a Honda Wave, color black, wearing helmet color red. The victim was brought to Sindangan District Hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Ibrahim Ungad was gunned down by two (2) unidentified male persons in front of victim's residence in Purok Caimito, Tuburan District, Pagadian City at about 6:45 P.M of May 4, 2019.  

Investigation disclosed that the victim went out of his house located at the mentioned place and upon getting out from the gate; suspects approached the victim and shot once with the use of improvised 12 gauge shotgun.

The suspects immediately fled towards Brgy. Tiguma, Pagadian City on board an unidentified single motorcycle. The victim was rushed to Hofileña Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

As this developed, Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Luis D Licup, PRO9 Director has ordered the Sindangan Municipal Police Station under Police Major Domingo S. Murillo II and Pagadian City Police Station under Police Lt. Col Alvin Saguban to launch a thorough investigation on the incidents and manhunt operation against the fleeing suspects.
