“United we stand, united we prevail” – WestMinCom Commander

 PAGADIAN CITY (March 18, 2021) - Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., the Commander of the Western Mindanao Command graced the Annual Pre-Ramadan Conference held at the Valencia Function Hall, Palacio del Sur, Gov. Camins, this city on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

The said activity was spearheaded by the Al-Risalah Radio Zamboanga, Inc. and Addhiya Foundation, Inc., and was participated by representatives from the Madaris, school-based youth organization, professionals, entrepreneurs, community leaders, private sectors, academe, Zamboanga City LGUs, and security sectors.

Al-Risalah Radio Zamboanga, Inc. has a block time arrangement with RPN-DXXX AM station in Zamboanga City where they cite Koranic admonitions against violence and factual information to disprove the extremist propaganda. They are hopeful that through the radio programs, they can save the people especially the youth from getting indoctrinated with the false ideology of the violent extremists.

Addhiya Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization and one of the Islamic foundations currently operating to provide charitable works and humanitarian relief to the people of Zamboanga and the nearby provinces. It was founded by a group of preachers who graduated from Islamic universities with truthful Islamic methodology derived from the Qur’an and Sunnah.

At this year’s Annual Pre-Ramadan Conference, the two organizations conceptualized the launching of Protect Peace Initiative. They defined Protecting Peace as creating a functional environment for growth guarded by the rule of law.

During the activity, several peace advocates including Department of National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Police Regional Office 9 Director Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan gave their messages.

In his message, Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. thanked the stakeholders present for the unwavering support to WestMinCom’s thrust.

“Our patience, efforts, and persistence are highlighted by our sustained gains against terrorist groups in our area of operation. With your unselfish support and cooperation, I am confident that we will eventually emerge victorious as we maximize our strength in diversity. Let us continue to collaborate because I strongly believe that united we stand, united we prevail,” Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr.

The commander assured that together with the Bangsamoro people and the rest of the Mindanaoans, the armed forces will continue to pursue peace and support the development efforts of the local government units and concerned stakeholders.
