Zambo mayor lauds police, military for peaceful New Year celebration

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Jan. 3 (PNA) –- Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has lauded the police and military authorities and all responders for keeping this city safe during the New Year festivities.

This, as the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) recorded zero case both for stray bullet and firecracker-related incidents during the New Year celebration.

Salazar said that the lawmen, both police and military, had sacrificed their personal interests and even their lives just to keep this city safe.

Salazar said that most police and military personnel spent their New Year on streets guarding this city from lawless elements and violations of laws.

The zero case for stray bullet and firecracker-related incidents was attributed to the intensified enforcement of City Ordinance 431 that bans the sale and use of firecracker and pyrotechnic products in this city.

City Ordinance 431 was enacted on Sept. 30, 2014 as an urgent measure and takes effect immediately in accordance with the provisions of Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991. (PNA)
