PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Jan. 8, 2015-MPF News) --- The Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) burned at least 541 grams of Illegal Drugs (Shabu) worth Php1.8 million during a public destruction of dangerous drugs in front of Pagadian City Justice Hall Wednesday afternoon.

The burning of Shabu was led by the PDEA-9 Regional Director Joseph C. Ladip and Governor Antonio H. Cerilles together with City Prosecutor Celso Manuales, Deputy Provincial Prosecutor Dimapuno Magangcong, representative of the Regional Trial Court, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Ernesto Mondarte, Representative of the Accused, Representatives of the Church Organizations and Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and members of the Media.

Governor Cerilles in a simple program said the fight against illegal drugs is not only fought by the different law enforcement agencies but by all sectors of society.

Cerilles after having been elected as Governor had declared war against illegal drugs in the province and created the Provincial Special Operation on Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force.

PDEA Region-9 Director Ladip said the 541 grams of shabu were confiscated and the suspect Albadar Abdul y Alibasa was arrested during the raid in a cargo carrier forwarder in Pagadian City on October 6, 2014.

Ladip explained that they had first conducted the proper proceedings before the total destruction of Dangerous Drugs such as the conducting of drugs test by their Chemist, which was submitted to the court as evidence of the case. Then 55 grams were taken from the 541 grams of shabu to be submitted in court for evidence and the remaining was burned in public.
