No Casualty in two Lanao Provinces brought by Typhoon Pablo

KUTA SANG-AN, LABANGAN, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR – At least 6,052 families in the 11 municipalities of Lanao del Norte were affected by the typhoon Pablo brought about by the continues rainfall with strong winds since Tuesday noon December 4. Some of the villagers suffered in the 2 feet high water which forced them to proceed to designated shelters (School Buildings and Gymnasiums) while others just stayed at their houses.

According to the Provincial Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) of Lanao del Norte, more or less 200 families within the province are still at their respective shelters as of this afternoon but will return to their homes later.

Disaster Rescue and Relief Operations (DRRO) teams under the 2^nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade joined with the teams from the Provincial DRRMC as well as to the teams at the municipal level in the preparation, evacuation, and rescue & relief operations to the affected families in the province. As of this report no reported casualties due to typhoon Pablo.  

The two provinces of Lanao Electric Cooperatives (LANECO/LASURECO) were temporarily cut-offm their electric supply Tuesday afternoon until Wednesday morning in the provinces to avoid any untoward incident.

Road in Brgy. Matampay, Marawi City is not passable to four-wheeled vehicle as of Wednesday dawn due to landslide along the way however a clearing operations was immediately undertaken while roads in some areas of 2^nd district of the same province experienced road congestion due to flash floods, slight landslide and uprooted trees which caused delayed travel of motorists. All bridges in the province are passable.

Beforehand, when the low pressure was monitored by PAGASA the Philippine Army’s 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division Commander Maj. General Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III has directed all ground units to prepare respective disaster response teams, undertake precautionary measures and to link with concerned provincial and municipal DRRMCs, local PNP and volunteers for the conduct of rescue & relief operations. “Coordination among units for augmentation of forces is highly encouraged” MGen.
