Pagadian City marks 47th Charter Day anniversary

Gov. Antonio Cerilles

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, June 21 (PNA) – Gov. Antonio Cerilles announced that he will support the programs of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte despite they don’t belong to the same political party.

Cerilles made this announcement Tuesday as the guest speaker of the 47th Araw ng Pagadian program where he also expressed gratitude to the people for giving him the mandate to serve on second term as governor.

Cerilles ran under the banner of the Nationalist Peoples Coalition (NPC) while Duterte under the Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

The NPC allied with the administration’s Liberal Party (LP) in the May 9 elections in this province.

Cerilles said he will support the administration of Duterte since it will be beneficial to the welfare of the Filipino people.

Mayor Romeo Pulmones led the city government officials and employees as well as students from different schools in the street parade at 7:00 a.m. that kickoff the celebration of the 47th Araw ng Pagadian.

The Araw ng Pagadian is celebrated every June 21 of the year in commemoration of its founding as a chartered city.

The celebration will end tonight with a foam party at the local wharf.

This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme: “Kahiusahan sa katawhan, kusog sa dakbayan alang sa malahutayong kalinaw ug dugang kalambuan (The Unity of the People, The Strength of the City for the Sustainable Peace and More Development). (PNA)
