PRO9 appeals to the public to report suspicious activities

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (June 16, 2017) - Prompt and detailed reporting of suspicious activities to the proper authorities to help prevent violent crimes and terrorist attacks. There had been many cases of successful interdiction of possible atrocities because of the effort of concerned citizens in reporting information of such suspicious activities to the police, official said.

PSSupt. Edwin C. Wagan, Provincial Director, Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office (ZNPPO) encourages the public to be aware of the possible indicators of suspicious activities, such as;
- Unusual or extended interest in public utilities, large public gatherings, transportation centers, government buildings and other possible terrorist targets;
- Unusual rentals, purchases, deliveries or thefts, particularly of poisonous or flammable chemicals;
- Multiple sightings of the same suspicious person, vehicle or activity;
- Individuals sitting in a parked car for an extended period of time;
- Individuals drawing pictures or taking notes of an area not normally of interest to tourist or showing interest in or photographing security cameras, guard location, or watching security procedures; or
- Individual who is exhibiting suspicious behavior, or who is in an area or doing that is not normal.

Wagan further said that the public is encourage to stay vigilant and work together with the police by sharing timely information to prevent or disrupt the plans of criminals and aid in their apprehension. In reporting suspicious activities, the caller should be prepared to answer the ff question:
a. What is the exact location of the activity?
b. Can you provide the description of the individual/s or vehicle/s?
c. What is the suspicious about the individual/s or vehicle/s?

“Let us not become the next victim of crimes with the use of illegal firearms. Let us act now!” PRO9 appeals to the general public to cooperate and report relevant information on security and public safety concerns, Wagan added.
