PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur, April 29 (PNA) –- Criminal charges have been filed before
the prosecutor’s office against the driver of the bus which figured in an
accident on Sunday that killed six people and injured 16 others in nearby
Aurora town, a top police official announced Tuesday.
Provincial police
director Senior Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre said the charges were filed Monday by
the police of Aurora town against Biato Dumpa of the Rural Transit Management,
Incorporated (RTMI).
Ecaldre said the
charges filed against Dumpa include reckless driving resulting in multiple
homicide and multiple serious physical injuries.
Dumpa lost control of
the steering wheel while negotiating a blind curve on Sunday in Barangay
Anonang, Aurora, while traveling from this city to Cagayan de Oro City.
The bus turned upside
down and pinned to death three of its 40 passengers that include two teenagers
and a seven-year-old child.
Three others,
including a three-month-old baby and a two-year-old girl, died while being
treated at the hospital.
Most of the injured
passengers were admitted at a hospital in the town of Kapatagan, Lanao del
Norte.
Ecaldre said Dumpa is
detained at the police headquarters in Aurora town. The bus was also impounded.
