PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Aug. 22 (PNA) -– Kidnappers have released a public school official snatched almost seven months ago in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a top police official disclosed Friday.

Police Provincial director Senior Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre said the victim, Rudy Luna, was released around 11:51 p.m. Tuesday at the fish port of Tukuran town in this province.

However, Ecaldre said Luna’s release was not immediately announced since a follow-up investigation has been conducted.

Ecaldre said Luna revealed during the debriefing conducted by the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) that he was made to board a motorized banca accompanied by two gunmen and left the place of his captivity around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

They were tailed by two other gunmen aboard another motorized banca as they sailed at high seas until they reached the fish port of Tukuran town where Luna’s captors abandoned him.

Being familiar to the place, Ecaldre said Luna walked until he reached the residence of his policeman-brother, Jun Luna, around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Ecaldre said Luna was fetched to the hospital for medical treatment by his personnel and from the AKG. Since then, Luna remained confined at the hospital.

Luna was kidnapped together with his wife, Tessie, by gunmen who barged into their residence in Barangay Diplo, Kumalarang town, this province, the night of January 27.

The gunmen brought the couple to the shore at Sitio Dacun in the nearby Barangay Picanan aboard the family-owned Sports Utility Vehicle.

They sped to the high seas aboard a motorized banca as Tessie managed to escape while they were being forced to board the sea craft.

The couple’s are both school supervisors of the Department Education (DepEd) in the municipality of Kumalarang and Bayog this province. (PNA)
