Cadaver found in yacht, possible kidnapping seen

By Jong Cadion

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (November 7, 2016) - A cadaver of a female foreigner believed to be in her 50s was found by civilian residents inside a yacht on Laparan Island, Pangutaran, Sulu, Southern Philippines Sunday morning, military official said.

Western Mindanao Command (WesMinCom) Spokesperson Maj. Filemon I. Tan Jr. disclosed that the said cadaver sustained gunshot wounds and was discovered inside a yacht bearing a German flag with markings “Rock All”. A shotgun was also recovered beside the body.

Tan also said that the Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi immediately sent troops to verify and facilitate the recovery of the yacht for investigation. Coordination with the Scene of the Crime Operatives and the local police was made. The yacht is now at Bongao Pier where SOCO will process the crime scene.

The military is currently verifying the claim of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Muamar Askali, a.k.a Abu Rami, that a 70-year-old German identified as Juegen Kantner, was seized by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) from a yacht off the waters of Tanjong Luuk Pisuk, Sabah.

The Western Mindanao Command is currently validating the veracity of reports that the cadaver found belonged to the alleged companion of Kantner, identified as Sabina Wetch. Alarming is that the body found was naked and had several contusions to the face and was possibly raped. PNP SOCO will conduct autopsy to validate this possibility, Tan added.

Intel monitoring and investigations are currently being conducted as of this moment.
