PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 16 (Frontline News)
-–There is no direct trips of passengers buses from this city to Iligan City as
well as from Dipolog City to Ozamis since the collapse of the Napo-Lapayan
Bridge in the province of Lanao del Norte.
The bridge, connecting the towns of Linamon and Kauswagan
in Lanao del Norte, collapsed around 10:00 p.m. Monday due to rampaging flood
waters brought about by heavy rains spawned by the Low Pressure Area (LPA)
experienced in Mindanao at that time.
Engr. Reynerio Alcachupas, head of this province’ first
engineering district, said the passengers of buses would need to ride motorized
banca from Linamon and Kauswagan and vice-versa and then board again on buses
to be able to reach to their destinations.

Alcachupas said that for those who have their own
vehicle, they can travel from and to Iligan City by taking the longer route by
traversing through Marawi City then to Malabang town in Lanao del Sur and then
to the municipality of Tukuran, this province.
Alcachupas said they could traverse along the coastal
road upon reaching Tukuran town in traveling to this city.
He said DPWH personnel are undertaking remedial measures
to re-establish the Linamon-Kauswagan passage way.
As of press time, motorized banca operators are
collecting P20 pesos fare per passenger for them to reach to other side of the
river bank.
Military and police have been deployed to ensure the
protection of the affected commuters who have to endure longer travel time to
reach their destinations.
