PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur - The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has recorded an
increase of more than P20 million worth of properties damaged in fire incidents
in 2013 compared to that of the previous year within the area of jurisdiction
of the Pagadian City Fire Station.
Aside from this city,
the Pagadian City Fire Station covers the seven nearby municipalities of this
province that do not have firefighting equipment. This province has a total of
26 municipalities.
The seven
municipalities are: Dumalinao, Guipos, Kumalarang, Labangan, Lakewood, San
Pablo, and Tigbao.

Olmedo said this came
about as a total of 76 structures were affected by fire incidents in 2013.
Thirty-three of the
76 structures were razed by fire.
In 2012, Olmedo said
that only 24 of the total of 70 affected structures were razed by fire.
Olmedo disclosed that
biggest destruction caused by a single incident last year was the fire incident
in April at Camp Cesar Sang-an, which houses the Army’s 1st Infantry Division
headquarters in Barangay Upper Pulacan, Labangan, this province.
Seven structures
including the ammunition and explosives storage were affected and the estimate
to property damaged was placed at more than P20 million.
However, he noted
that only one vehicle was burned last year as compared to three in 2012.
He said that a
civilian was also killed in a fire incident and four were injured in 2013
compared to five injured--one fireman and four civilians--in the previous year.
