PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 15 (PNA) -– A
total of 30 Subanen women have graduated from a three-day livelihood training
jointly conducted by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay,
officials said Wednesday.
NCIP Regional Director Salong Sunggod said that the
participants have undergone three-day training on handicraft making that ended
Monday.
“Indigenous materials and with a great supply of rattan
in the area, the handicraft-making business will be a successful project to
venture,” Sunggod said.
Sunggod said the participants, who belong to the
Pigsalabukan Glebon Subanen de Guinoman, are from Barangay Guinoman, Diplahan,
Zamboanga Sibugay.
The three-day training was supervised by NCIP-Zamboanga
Sibugay chief Marita Laguitan-Miñao.
The trainor of the three-day activity was Pelaez Tunggos,
who is also a member of an Indigenous People (IP). (PNA)
