Pagadian City LTO District Chief Johan Macaumbos |
PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur, Jan. 7 (PNA) -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set
to implement the standardization of license plate for all types of vehicles
this year.
“The implementation
is ready anytime this year, once our computer system program and some materials
needed for the implementation are available,” local LTO District Chief Johan
Macaumbos said Tuesday.
Macaumbos said the
new license plate number under the standardization will feature alphanumeric
design such as three-letter and four-number combination for four-wheel motor
vehicle and two-letter and five-number combination for motorcycle.
The current license
plate design of three-letter and three-number for four-wheel motor vehicle and
two-letters and four-numbers for motorcycle have been in use since 1981.
Macaumbos said the
new license plate has multiple security features, including laser-etched bar
codes containing selective data inputs which will allow data verification with
the LTO.
He said it has also a
reflective sheeting material, making the license plate visible even from
wide-entrance angles and up to a distance of 100 feet both daytime and night
time and anodized bolt head screws and nuts with serial numbers that will
prevent tampering and removal of the license plates from the vehicle once
installed.
He added the new
security features will promote safety and reliability in accordance with
international standards.(PNA)
