PRO9 conducts 1st Regional Advisory Council summit

ZAMBOANGA CITY (March 17, 2017) - Build from the successful conduct of the National Advisory Council Summit in 2015 and 2016, the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) held its 1st Regional Advisory Council Summit at PDRRMC, Capitol Compound, Ipil Heights, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay Province on March 14-15, 2017 with the theme “The Role of Police Advisory Council on the Transformation of the PNP Towards Good Governance”, official said.  
        
PRO9 Information Officer PSUPT ROGELIO C. ALABATA disclosed that Police Deputy Director General (PDDG) RAMON C. APOLINARIO, The Deputy Chief for Operations (TDCO), was the Guest of Honor and Speaker of the two-day summit participated by the Regional Advisory Councils (RACs) of PRO9, Provincial Advisory Councils (PACs) of Police Provincial Offices, District Advisory Councils (DACs) of District Police Office and City/ Municipal Police Stations Advisory Councils (C/ MACs) in Zamboanga Peninsula.
         
PDDG RAMON C APOLINARIO said the summit aims is to update the external strategy partners on the implementation of the PNP transformation program-the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030 which includes the updates on the “Proficiency” and “Institutionalization” Stages and the on-going anti-criminality efforts of the agency in line with the thrusts of the current administration.
         
PCSUPT BILLY B BELTRAN, Regional Director of PRO9, said the summit will be an avenue where the members of the different advisory councils will meet and share their experiences and best practices to further enhance their role in making the police organization responsive to the development needs of the community.
          
He added that, “the summit intends to enhance the strategic focus and direction of the PNP through active consultation with its strategic partners and to further strengthen its relationship with the community through fruitful partnership and collaboration”.
         
According to PCSUPT NOEL A BARACEROS, Director, Center for Strategy Management Units, who was one of the resource speakers in the summit, the Advisory Councils does not only provide valuable guidance, strategic insights, innovative ideas and new perspectives, but also serve as an important role to ensure transparency and accountability in the PNP.
         
He also added that the “Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and in Upholding the Rule-Of-Law” or PNP P.A.T.R.O.L Plan 2030’s early success is due to the strong and active support of the National Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (NAGPTD) which is part of the vision of the PNP to work in partnership with a responsive community.
         
The Police Advisory Council, which was established from the national down to the municipal level, serves as an advisory body of the PNP in the implementation of the Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and Upholding of the Rule of Law (Patrol) Plan 2030. They are organized to assist and support the PNP in the implementation of its P.A.T.R.O.L Plan 2030, and to serve as the PNP’s strategy partner.
         




These are comprised of sectoral leaders and highly accomplished individuals known for their integrity, probity and leadership that performs a significant role in its real and lasting transformation. The members of the advisory councils, together with the Technical Working Group (TWG), have the responsibility to evaluate and amend the strategies for the implementation of the PGS. They shall also advise their corresponding units the necessary amendment to the current and development of future programs, projects, and activities.
